My father and mother were General Contractors in Central Florida. They built hundreds of homes & commercial buildings. After Hurricane Andrew hit Homestead, Florida, my father was one of the first contractors to arrive on the scene in an effort to help rebuild their community. Since 2004, I've held an independent adjuster's license and worked on behalf of many large insurance companies. Since working for the insurance companies, I've seen first hand where the insurance companies did pay a fair settlement and a public adjuster wasn't needed. Unfortunately, I've also seen the opposite hold true. To paint an accurate picture for you regarding the claims that I've handled as an independent adjuster, I'd estimate that 80% of the policyholders were UNDERPAID BY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. I decided after working Hurricane Ike as an independent adjuster that I would like to start putting my claims experience to work for the policyholders as a public adjuster.
